Pahang Skills Profile
Pahang Skills Development Centre (Pahang Skills) was registered under the Societies Act 1966 on 17 June 1994 and began active operations on 1 September 1996 at Semambu Industrial Park, Kuantan, Pahang on an area of 12 acres. Pahang Skills is a skills-based training and education institution established through a collaboration between three (3) parties, namely the State Government, the Federal Government and major industries in the state. Pahang Skills’ core activity is to provide skills training for workers in the industrial sector, graduates & SPM leavers.
Monitoring the performance and progress of Pahang Skills is through the Management Council whose members consist of representatives from the (Private) Industry such as Pascorp Paper Industries Berhad, Kaneka (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Far East Holdings Berhad, BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd, Petronas Chemicals MTBE Sdn Bhd and Mieco Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd and the Pahang government as Ex Officio consisting of representatives from the State Economic Planning Division Office (BPEN), State Finance Office (SFINO), State Youth & Sports Office, Pahang State Development Corporation (PKNP) and representatives from the Pahang Foundation.
Pahang Skills has obtained accreditation as a training centre from the Department of Skills Development (JPK), Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp), Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP/DOSH), Energy Commission (ST), Siemens Malaysia, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) & Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC).
Pahang Skills is also one of the 14 Skills Centres under the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC) and acts as the Treasurer.
As of 31 December 2024, Pahang Skills has trained a total of 63,159 trainees consisting of workers in the industrial sector, graduates & SPM leavers
Pahang Skills has received confidence from various parties to implement various skills training programs for industrial workers in the TVET field. For Short-Term courses, Pahang Skills has trained a total of 38,217 participants covering the fields of Technical, ICT and soft skills. Among the multinational companies involved are Lynas Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Isuzu Hicom Malaysia Sdn Bhd &, BI Technologies Sdn. Bhd. In addition, from government departments are the Vocational Technical Education and Training Division (BPLTV), Pahang Islamic Religious Council (MUIP) and Pahang Water Management Berhad (PAIP).
Pahang Skills has also trained 6,112 IPT graduates through skills development programs funded by the Bumiputra Education Leaders Foundation (YPPB), Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT). Among the programs under this category are Expert Craftsman Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Grid-Connected Photovoltaic System Installation and Maintenance with IoT, Python Certification and Application in Data Analytics, Siemens PLC with IoT Integration, Manufacturing Management Foundation, Drone Agriculture and Fiber Optic.
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Pahang Skills is a hub for world-class training, having trained a total of 1,878 participants, designed to align with the needs of today’s evolving industry. Its core focus areas include Drone Technology, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Creative Content, Sustainable Energy, Smart Manufacturing, and Internet of Things (IoT). Highlighting its excellence, the CoEs offer a range of courses, each of which is accredited by CAAM, UAV Operations (Drone)-RCOC, Power BI Data Analysis, and PLC Automation, certified by SIEMENS (M). In the field of sustainable energy, the CoE delivers high-demand courses such as GCPV Systems Design, GCPV for Chargeman & Wireman, and GCPV Installation and Maintenance, all accredited by SEDA. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as creative studios and cutting-edge technology laboratories, it ensures a superior learning experience. With its commitment to nurturing skilled and competitive talent, the CoE stands as a premier destination for future-ready professionals.
Pahang Skills has also trained 16,952 trainees in the field of diploma and certificate skills for SPM graduates for courses such as Computer System Administration, Computer System Operation, Creative Content Development, Interactive Multimedia Design, Low Voltage Electrical Installation & Maintenance, Three Phase Electrical Installation & Maintenance and Single Phase Electrical Installation & Maintenance since 1994.
Pahang Skills also provides rental facilities such as halls, seminar rooms, computer labs, iMac labs for purposes of weddings, graduations, banquets, examinations, seminars, courses, meetings to government agencies, private sector, statutory bodies and the public.
Pahang Skills has also been entrusted to be the Lead Consultant to develop the Pahang Digital Plan 2021-2025 with Pahang Go Sdn. Bhd. This 5-year planning plan aims to create a comprehensive and interconnected digital ecosystem. Four (4) main thrusts have been identified, namely; digital infrastructure, digital government, digital inclusion and digital industry.
