Prerequisites
- The ability to use an MS Windows PC, keyboard and mouse to include opening and closing programs, locating files, copy and paste objects /data (text, etc). Drag and drop files, objects/data (text, etc). Use of menus and multi-menus, manipulation of windows within a multi-window environment. Use of MS Windows Help. Prior attendance on Siemens ST-SERV3 or ST-PRO2 would be advantageous or equivalent knowledge and practical experience.

- TIA Portal components: SIMATIC STEP 7 and SIMATIC WinCC Advanced
- Basic configuration of devices and networks for the SIMATIC S7 system family including PROFINET connections
- Working with the SIMATIC STEP 7 symbol table
- Program blocks and editor
- Data management with data blocks
- Programming of organisation blocks (OBs)
- New instructions for use with the S7-1500 for indirect addressing operations
- Working with troubleshooting tools
- An introduction to Structured Control Language (SCL) editor
- An introduction to the operator control and monitoring system (HMI)
- An introduction to the configuration of a G120 using StartDrive in the TIA Portal
- An introduction to S7-GRAPH
- All topics are reinforced through structured practical exercises on TIA system model
